Lazio will be without midfielder Lorik Cana for the next two months because of a back injury.

Cana was forced to leave Saturday's 4-0 defeat at Siena at halftime with the injury, and tests have confirmed that there is damage to the lumbar vertebrae in Cana's back.

A statement from the club read: "Cana underwent tests that revealed a fracture of the apophysis transverse in his second and third lumbar vertebrae. The player will have to rest for 40 days and the recovery time period is estimated at two months."

The injury will likely prevent Cana from taking part in Lazio's next 10 Serie A games, while next month's Europa League contest with Atletico Madrid will also come too soon.

The 28-year-old has scored one goal in eight league appearances for Lazio this season.
