Demba Ba came off the bench at halftime to score a pair of goals, including the equalizer in the 90th minute, as Newcastle earned a 2-2 draw against Everton at Goodison Park.

The home side controlled the first half and went in front in the 15th minute when Leighton Baines exchanged passes with Steven Pienaar and drove a low shot underneath goalkeeper Steve Harper from inside the penalty area.

Phil Jagielka nearly doubled the lead before halftime for the Toffees, but his shot from 20 yards struck the outside of the post.

Ba entered the match after halftime and he made an immediate impact by scoring the equalizer in the 49th minute from a Yohan Cabaye pass.

Victor Anichebe thought he gave Everton the lead with 12 minutes to play when his close-range header was tipped off the underside of the crossbar by Harper and appeared to cross the goal line before being cleared by Newcastle's Michael Williamson. However, the linesman failed to give the goal, denying Everton the lead.

Anichebe was understandably upset, but he came right back and scored in the 88th minute to give the hosts an apparent win.

Yet Ba had other ideas and he allowed the Magpies to leave with a point when Shola Ameobi helped a long ball on with his chest that Ba tracked down and poked past goalkeeper Tim Howard.
