Spain's Azahara Munoz won the Ladies French Open on Sunday, beating French players Gwladys Nocera and Valentine Derrey by a stroke at Chantaco.

Munoz, the 25-year-old former Arizona State star who helped Europe win the Solheim Cup in August, closed with a 5-under 65 to finish at 14-under 266.

"It's been a long year and I've been playing really bad and since Solheim it's got much better and I'm just really happy to have won here," said Munoz, a two-time winner on the Ladies European Tour who also won the LPGA Tour's 2012 Sybase Match Play Championship.

Nocera and Derrey shot 67.
