The Philadelphia 76ers have fired chief executive Adam Aron.

The Inquirer quoted a league source which said the decision was made on Monday.

Aron was part of the current ownership group, led by managing owner Joshua Harris, which took control of the team in October of 2011.

After reaching the playoffs in 2012, the Sixers slid to a 34-48 record and fourth place in the Eastern Division last season.
