Arizona State finally got the signature victory it had been missing by beating Washington.

The Sun Devils had come up short in potential statement games under coach Todd Graham over the past two seasons, including losses to Stanford and Notre Dame this year.

Arizona State beat then-No. 20 Wisconsin earlier this season, but it was clouded by a controversial finish. The Sun Devils also rolled over Southern California, but the Trojans were already in disarray and about to lose their coach.

The victory over Washington on Saturday should change perceptions.

By dominating a ranked team on both sides of the ball, the Sun Devils raced off to the kind of victory that should show they belong on the big stage.
