London, England โ Manu Ginobili scored 24 points and Luis Scola chipped in 20 with 10 rebounds, as Argentina recovered from an awful start to earn a 92-69 victory over Tunisia in men's basketball.
Carlos Delfino added 21 points for Argentina, which was coming off a loss to France on Tuesday and surprisingly trailed by 14 after the first quarter on Thursday. The Argentines used a 15-0 run in the second quarter to get back into the game and rolled in the second half to improve to 2-1 in Group A.
Salah Mejri led winless Tunisia with 19 points and Mourad El Mabrouk added 16 in defeat.
Tunisia scored the first seven points of the game and closed the opening period with five straight to build a 28-14 advantage. Ginobili then scored 12 of Argentina's 15 points to start the second quarter and his basket with six minutes left in the half gave the Argentines their first lead at 29-28.
Again, Tunisia built a five-point edge late in the second quarter before Argentina moved in front with seven straight. Mejri's basket in the closing seconds sent Tunisia to the locker room with a 40-40 tie.
Ginobili and Delfino then started the second half with back-to-back threes, and Facundo Campazzo added another from beyond the arc to give Argentina a quick nine-point edge and Tunisia never got closer than seven again.
Argentina scored 11 straight later in the third to grab a 65-46 cushion and it was 71-56 entering the fourth. The margin never dipped below 15 in the final period.
