The Los Angeles Angels have agreed to a deal to acquire infielder Yunel Escobar from the Washington Nationals, according to multiple reports.

Escobar, 33, played third base for the Nationals in 2015 but began his career as a shortstop and also can play second base. However, the Angels' biggest need currently is at the hot corner now that David Freese is a free agent.

In 139 games this past season, Escobar hit .314/.375/.415 with 25 doubles, nine homers and 56 RBI. During his nine-season major-league career, he is a .281/.350/.385 hitter with 78 homers and 449 RBI.
