Winston-Salem, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Second seed Kevin Anderson posted a second-round victory Tuesday at the Winston-Salem Open, a final U.S. Open tune-up.
The 6-foot-8 South African Anderson, who played collegiate tennis at the University of Illinois, held off Frenchman Adrian Mannarino 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 on the hardcourts at Wake Forest University.
A mild upset came when 6-foot-8 Pole Jerzy Janowicz dismissed sixth-seeded Portuguese Joao Sousa 6-1, 3-6, 7-6 (7-5).
