The fourth seed came from behind to beat fellow Spaniard Daniel Gimeno-Traver 1-6, 7-5, 6-4 on the red clay at Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club.
Almagro, who titled here in 2011 and was the runner-up in 2012, will meet Jeremy Chardy in the round of eight, as the eighth-seeded Frenchman fought his way past Ukrainian Alexandr Dolgopolov 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (7-3) on Day 4.
