The Woodlands, TX – Michael Allen fired a nine-under 63 on stroke lead after the first round of the Insperity Championship.
Allen matched Fred Couples' course record on the Tournament Course at The Woodlands Country Club. Couples closed with a 63 last year en route to winning the title.
John Cook is alone in second place at minus-six, while Mark Calcavecchia and Tom Lehman share third at five-under 67.
Couples is one of three players tied in fifth place at four-under 68.
