Pittsburgh Steelers nose tackle Alameda Ta'amu is on the road to redemption after a disastrous rookie season.

Ta'amu was the team's fourth-round draft choice in 2012 but was cut midway through the year following his arrest after a run-in with police that resulted in multiple felony charges. He was re-signed to the practice squad and given probation for the incident.

Now he's trying to make the most of his second chance. Ta'amu lost over 30 pounds during the offseason and picked up a pair of tackles in an 18-13 preseason loss to the New York Giants on Saturday night. Ta'amu credited several of his teammates for helping him make the steps necessary to get his career back in order.

The Steelers play in Washington next Monday.
