Santa Clara, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The San Francisco 49ers signed quarterback John Skelton to a one-year contract on Wednesday.

Skelton was drafted by Arizona in the fifth round of the 2010 NFL Draft and spent three seasons with the Cardinals, compiling 15 touchdowns passes and 3,707 yards over 20 games, including 17 starts.

The 25-year-old signal-caller appeared in seven games (six starts) with the Cardinals in 2012 and threw for 1,132 yards and two touchdowns with nine interceptions before being released on Apr. 1.

Skelton signed with Cincinnati two days later and spent training camp with the Bengals, but was released at the culmination of camp.
