Santa Clara, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - San Francisco 49ers special teams veteran Kassim Osgood will miss the remainder of the season because of a broken hand.

Osgood suffered the injury during this past Sunday's game against Seattle and was placed on injured reserve Tuesday. He has recorded 19 special teams tackles in 27 games over two seasons with the 49ers.

The 49ers signed linebacker Desmond Bishop to fill the roster spot. Bishop, who was released by Arizona earlier this month, has 318 tackles with nine sacks and one interception in 73 games with Green Bay, Minnesota and Arizona over eight seasons.

San Francisco also signed tight end Xavier Grimble to the practice squad.
