The United States are already in the quarterfinals, but need to avoid defeat against North Korea to win their group.
Because eight out of 12 participants advance to the quarterfinals in the women's soccer tournament at the London 2012 Olympics, the final day of group stage play is light on drama. Five teams have already secured their place in the quarterfinals and some of the teams who aren't locked in yet, like North Korea and France, can potentially go through with a loss. In fact, even though North Korea and France are in the same group, it's possible for both of them to lose and progress to the quarterfinals.
Group F play kicks off the day, and Canada vs. Sweden is one of the day's best matches. If Canada does not lose, they'll lock up a spot in the quarterfinals. Japan should beat South Africa easily in the other match. In Group E, Great Britain and Brazil battle to win the group, while New Zealand and Cameroon both need wins to give themselves a shot at a quarterfinal place. Group G closes things out with the United States against North Korea and Colombia against France.
