Wisconsin Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mary Burke is responding to allegations she was fired from her family's company, Trek Bicycle Corp., reportedly claiming that in fact her two-year hiatus was the result of downsizing.

She told Wisconsin Radio Network that they "reorganized and eliminated" the position she had.

Burke, who is running against Republican Gov. Scott Walker, was responding to claims published in a Watchdog.org report that quoted former Trek executives and employees alleging she was fired by her own family after steep financial losses and morale problems.

Burke called the claims "ridiculous."

But Watchdog.org reported that multiple sources maintain she was fired in 1993.

A source identified as a former executive said he stood by his claims, and denied Burke's explanation that there was simply a reorganization at the company.
