The Washington Post's Dana Milbank promised last October that he'd eat his column if billionaire businessman Donald Trump became the Republican Party's presidential nominee.
And now, he has to eat it. On Tuesday, after Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, suspended his campaign, and Trump became the presumptive GOP nominee, Milbank signaled he'd make good on his promise.
"The cook-off is coming," he said on social media.
Last fall, Milbank had no doubt that Trump would eventually bow out of the race.
"I'm so certain Trump won't win the nomination that I'll eat my words if he does. Literally: The day Trump clinches the nomination I will eat the page on which this column is printed in Sunday's Post," he wrote.
