District of Columbia Mayor-elect Vincent Gray says President Obama supports congressional voting rights for the nation's capital, but he has yet to adapt the famous license plate bearing the slogan "Taxation Without Representation." The Department of Motor Vehicles started issuing such plates in November of 2000. President Bill Clinton had the plates placed on the presidential limousines but President George W. Bush quickly removed them in one of his first acts as president.

Mr. Obama met with Gray over lunch in the private dining room at the White House Wednesday. The two discussed education as a top priority in Washington, DC. But the ever-popular issue of statehood for Washingtonians was also a hot topic. Here's what he said:
