Republican frontrunner Donald Trump’s campaign tore into rival Ted Cruz after the Texas senator’s victory in Tuesday's Wisconsin Republican primary, calling Cruz “worse than a puppet” and a “Trojan horse.”

“Ted Cruz is worse than a puppet – he is a Trojan horse, being used by the party bosses attempting to steal the nomination from Mr. Trump,” the email read.

The reaction came after Cruz was projected to easily win the Republican primary in Wisconsin, significantly narrowing Trump’s path to winning the nomination and avoiding a contested convention.

The statement also accused Cruz of coordinating with supporting Super PACs.

“Not only was he propelled by the anti-Trump Super PAC’s spending countless millions of dollars on false advertising against Mr. Trump, but he was coordinating with his own Super PAC’s [sic] (which is illegal) who totally control him.”

The statement went on to say that the campaign is confident that Trump will go on the April 19 primary in Trump’s home state of New York.
