Democratic Sen. Ben Nelson tells Fox News Radio that he intends to support Ben Bernanke for a second term as Federal Reserve chairman.

"I think it's pretty easy to identify somebody with something that didn't work out the way it should have but most people I talk to in the financial business think that he has done a good job and they think he deserves to continue to be in that position," the Nebraska Senator told Fox News Radio.

Nelson said there are others who could take the job but, he doesn't think Bernanke's  performance is sub-par.

"A year ago we were talking about a depression, now we're still talking about getting out of a recession, so I believe his job performance has been sufficient to get another go," he said.

Nelson explained why he thought Bernanke was having a tough time getting reconfirmed.

"Because the economy is not back where people want it to be and it's easy to identify one or two people with that situation and I think that's what's happening."
