Santorum Announcement June 6, Expected To Make Presidential Run Official

Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum will make a major announcement on June 6th in his home state and is expected to officially announce his run for the White House in 2012.

A Santorum Aide tells FOX News Santorum will make the announcement from southwestern Pennsylvania "near where his grandfather worked in the coal mines after he came here from Italy. This location is significant because when Santorum's grandfather left fascist Italy, he came to this country for America's freedom and the opportunity our nation afforded him."

Santorum has been hitting the presidential campaign trail hard for months, logging numerous trips to Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina in an effort to raise his name recognition.
