TRENTON, N.J.-- Democratic U.S. Rep. Steve Rothman has won his eighth term representing New Jersey's 9th Congressional District.
He easily defeated Republican Michael Agosta in the northern New Jersey district.

Rothman was a co-sponsor of a bill this year imposing new sanctions on Iran because of its nuclear program. He is a former mayor of Englewood.
His opponent served in the U.S. Army and as a federal air marshal. It was his first run for office.
