Recent Sex Scandals Involving Congressmen
Rep. Souder, R-Ind., is the latest politician caught up in a sex scandal. This scenario is certainly nothing new in Washington, but just how many Congressmen have been caught in a scandal in the last few years?
Republicans: Rep. Mark Foley, Sen. Vitter, Sen. Larry Craig, Rep. Fossella, Sen. Ensign, Rep. Souder
Democrats: Rep. Massa
2006 - Sexual emails and instant messages between Rep. Mark Foley, R-Fla., and congressional pages surface just before the November midterm election.
2007 - Sen. David Vitter, R-La., is reported to be on the phone records of a Washington madam.
2007 - Sen. Larry Craig, R-Idaho, pleads guilty to disorderly conduct in a men's room and a police officer testifies he was soliciting sex.
2008: Rep. Fossella, R-N.Y., gets a DUI arrest just outside Washington and shortly after, an affair is made public and news came out that he also had a three-year old child with his mistress.
2009: Details come out that Sen. Ensign, R-Nev., has been having an affair with the wife of one of his top aides.
2010: Rep. Eric Massa, D-N.Y., resigns citing health reasons, but also is the subject of an ethics investigation about inappropriate behavior with male staffers.
2010: Rep. Souder, R-Ind., announces his resignation and that he has been having an affair with a female staffer.
