Opening statements are scheduled in the corruption trial of former Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell and his wife, Maureen.

Prosecutors and defense attorneys will lay out their case for an eight-man, four-woman jury Tuesday. Jury selection took all day Monday.

The McDonnells are charged in a 14-count indictment with accepting more than $165,000 in gifts and loans from Jonnie Williams, the CEO of dietary supplements maker Star Scientific, in exchange for helping promote his products. Their trial is expected to last at least five weeks.

The prosecution will begin presenting its case after opening statements. At some point, Williams is expected to testify under immunity as the government's star witness.

Among the possible defense witnesses are former Gov. Doug Wilder and former state Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli.
