A White House official confirms to Fox that a former National Transportation and Safety Board investigator, reviewing the emergency landing of then-candidate Obama's campaign plane last July, says the event could been "catastrophic" without the heroics of the crew.
The NTSB report says a slide that inflated may have pressed against critical control cables.
The White House official tells Fox a second report on this incident, due in about two weeks, is expected to establish probable cause for the equipment malfunction behind the slide inflating and other subsequent problems.
The incident occurred on at Midway Airport in Chicago. Obama and about 50 others, including the press, were on board.
