MUST-SEE VIDEO: NY Debate Serves Some of Best Political Theater This Election Season

If only all political debates were this entertaining.

Seven candidates running to be the next governor of New York met last night for a political debate -- except the actual debate played out more like an open-mike night on a comedy stage than a serious talk about issues facing the state.

Democrat Andrew Cuomo and Republican Carl Paladino - widely considered the two frontrunners in New York's gubernatorial race - were decidedly upstaged by the other candiates, who stole the show with their colorful one-liners and zingers.

Sure, the debate did have some discussion about the state budget, education and healthcare, but that was largely overshadowed by two candidates who many New Yorkers probably had never heard of.

"Manhattan Madam" Kristin Davis, who ran an escort service and claims former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer as a client, compared career politicians to "whores" and claimed that she, naturally, had the "right experience to deal with them." Davis also answered a question about New York's troubled transit organization, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, by claiming the only difference between the MTA and her escort agency was that her agency was more organized and delivered services on time.

Libertarian candidate Warren Redlich told voters he isn't a typical New York politician because he's "never been caught with a prostitute." But it was the spectacularly-mustachioed, gloves-wearing Jimmy McMillan, of the "Rent is 2 Damn High" party, who ultimately stole the show. At one point referring to himself as a "karate expert," McMillian's main points were pretty self-explanatory: "Our children can't afford to live anywhere...why? You said it, the rent is too...damn...high." McMillan also addressed the effects of the struggling economy by holding up a gloved hand and saying "someone's stomach just growled! Can you hear it?" and declared, in support of gay marriage, "if you want to marry a shoe, I'll marry you."
