Krauthammer: Sequester report shows 'billions are wasted absolutely stupidly every year'

Charles Krauthammer told viewers Thursday on “Special Report with Bret Baier” that a new report on the results of the sequester shows the government needs to cut “mountains of waste” in its spending habits, saying “billions are wasted absolutely stupidly every year.”

His comments came after the Government Accountability Office revealed only one federal employee was laid off due to last year’s mandated, across-the-board spending cuts. Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., believes the results of the report indicate that the White House overplayed the effects of the cuts and is launching a probe into the matter.

Krauthammer, a syndicated columnist and a Fox News contributor, said the report gives insight into Democratic attitudes toward spending cuts.

“Every time you want to cut, Democrats are saying orphans are going to end up out in the snow, the border will be open… it’s ridiculous," he said.
