Fox Confirms: Slovakia accepts 3 Gitmo detainees

Major Garrett confirms, Slovakia will accept three detainees from Guantanamo Bay.  None of the inmates have been transferred yet, but the process is underway.

The Slovak Foreign Minister, Miroslav Lajcak, said the acceptance of the inmates is a "gesture of solidarity" with the Obama administration's policy to close the facility in Cuba. Lajcak would not give any details about the detainees other than to say none of them are Yemeni or a security risk to his country.

Upon taking office almost one year ago, President Obama ordered the Guantanamo facility closed by this month, January 2010, but the administration has recognized that deadline will be missed.

Slovakia joins France, Hungary, Italy, Portugal and Spain, in accepting inmates from the Guantanamo where an estimated 200 inmates are still held.
