EPA seeks millions more for global warming initiatives

Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Gina McCarthy testified before Congress Wednesday, requesting millions more for initiatives to combat global warming.

Speaking before the House Energy and Commerce committee, McCarthy's presented a budget requesting $1.03 billion for global warming and air quality initiatives - a more than $41 million increase from fiscal year 2014. Nearly $200 million would be designated specifically for global warming - a $23 million increase from last year.

“Addressing the threat from a changing climate is one of the greatest challenges of this and future generations,” McCarthy said.

The FY 2015 budget will also reassign 24 EPA employees and $10 million to enact President Obama’s “climate action plan."
