Dem Senator Cracks Wise About Generosity of Rep. Frank's 'Ex-Boyfriends'
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}First-term Sen. Amy Klobuchar roasted her elders at Wednesday night's Washington Press Club dinner, "killing" in the eyes of many in the audience as she delivered a comic monologue that included teasing openly gay Rep. Barney Frank
Earning laughs at her performance at the club's annual congressional dinner, .Klobuchar earned laughter and applause when she said, "I set an all-time United States Senate record -- this is true: I raised $17,000 from ex-boyfriends."
Then she got personal.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}"Speaker Pelosi, I may have the record in the Senate. But I know in the House, that record is held by Barney Frank," Klobuchar joked.
Lucky for the Minnesota Democrat, Frank is known to make himself the punch line.
At an auto industry hearing in December, for instance, Frank "went there" when Republican Rep. Shelley Moore Capito regaled the hearing room with a story about her dad's old jalopy called "the chick magnet."

That, too, drew a big laugh.
Klobuchar also took a shot at New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, whose nomination for commerce secretary ended when he withdrew his name amid an ethics inquiry in his state.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}"I really, really, really have a very simple goal," Klobuchar said. "And that is to keep it as short as Bill Richardson's tenure as commerce secretary."
