Secretary of State Hillary Clinton joked about the Chinese hacking into her email in an exchange with a State Department aide.
Nora Toiv, then the special assistant to the counselor and chief of staff, emailed Clinton and Huma Abedin her Gmail address in July 2011. Clinton replied that she only had that address and asked for her State Department email address.
"You've always emailed me on my State email," Toiv wrote back, sending her the address.
"Even weirder — I just checked and I do have your state but not your gmail — so how did that happen," Clinton said in reply, quipping, "Must be the Chinese!" Toiv jokingly agreed.
