White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs just announced President Obama will fly from Washington late Saturday to Poland to attend Sunday's funeral for Polish President Lech Kaczynski and First Lady Maria Kaczynska.

The Polish first family died with numerous high-ranking government, business and military officials when the plane they were traveling in crashed and burst into flames as it tried to land Saturday in heavy fog at Smolensk-North airport in Russia. No one survived the crash. The Polish delegation was flying to Russia to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Katyn Massacre.

"The President will travel to Krakow to express the depth of our condolences to an important and trusted ally, and our support for the Polish people," Gibbs said in a statement.
