President-elect Barack Obama announced Wednesday that he was putting David Axelrod, his chief campaign strategist, to work in the White House and naming former Clinton impeachment attorney Greg Craig as his chief counsel.

Obama also named Lisa Brown as his staff secretary and Chris Lu as the secretary of his Cabinet.

"I am pleased to announce these new additions to our team, and I'll be relying on their broad and diverse experience in the months ahead as we work to strengthen our economy, reform Washington, and meet the great challenges of our time," Obama said in a statement.

Obama has already named Rahm Emanuel as his chief of staff. The positions named are White House staff and do not require Senate confirmation.
