What a day. What a way to start the week. I'm exhausted.

Yes, we've had some hiccups today, as I'm sure you all have noticed given the newsletter arrived in your inboxes just in time for lunch. We've been putting out fires left and right, but that's why we're patriots.

Adversity builds character, you know. It's not about how hard you fall, but about how fast you get back up. It's not the size of the dog, but the size of the heart inside the dog.

Did I hit them all? Good! Now, let's roll.

KYLE BUSCH SENDS HAMLIN CHILLING THREAT, NASCAR WIFE IS 'AMERICA'S MOST BEAUTIFUL' & 1ST BLACK FEMALE WRECKED

Welcome to a Monday Nightcaps — the one where LPGA star Nelly Korda hits the beach for some pre-summer R&R.

What else? I've got the best of the rest from a loaded weekend of #content, the democrats are dancing again so I'm obligated to show you, and let's celebrate Patriots Day in Boston with the most insane example of triggering I've ever seen in my life.

And buddy, I see A LOT of it every day. This one from Nike goes straight to the top.

Grab you whatever you need to get you through this Monday — we need A LOT here at HQ after the day we just had — and settle in for a Monday 'Cap!

Marathon Monday will always be special

Every year, Marathon Monday rolls around (duh), and every year, it makes me miss the hell out of Boston. Sure, I give the city a ton of crap nowadays, mainly because of the insufferable mayor, but man ... living there on days like today make it just the best place in the world.

I lived in Boston from 2011-2015, back when people were sane. Some of the best years of my life. The 'T.' Fenway. Living in Allston (if you know, you know). TITS (relax, it's a sports bar!). Sure, the snow was awful. The winters were miserable, especially the last one I was there (2015).

But I still content to this day that September and October in New England are unbeatable. Ever been to Salem in October? Go. It's the best.

Anyway, I was obviously in the city for the 2013 Marathon bombing. I remember it vividly. I was actually on my way to the finish line to meat a couple buddies and stopped in a Panera on the way because I was fat and couldn't go an hour without stuffing my face with something.

The bomb went off minutes later. I could feel the vibrations from down the street. It was absolute chaos for the next week. Classes were canceled. The city was put under a curfew. There were tanks on the street. The National Guard was set up in the park. It was the most surreal week of my life. Hookstead would've loved it!

And yes, Patriots Day took on an entirely new meaning after that. It was always a big day in Boston, but after 2013, it was something much deeper.

Anyway, it's been 13 years since the bombing, and I still think of that week all the time. Wild.

Now, let's start class by checking in on Nike!

What a week of #content!

Amazing. Simply amazing. Imagine being pissed at Nike (woke Nike!) because of a silly little slogan for Marathon Monday. So much so, that you force them to remove it all together! I mean, goodness. What a time to be alive. What a world we live.

Look at this actual statement from Nike:

"We want more people to feel welcome in running — no matter their pace, experience, or the distance. During race week in Boston, we put up a series of signs to encourage runners. One of them missed the mark. We took it down, and we’ll use this moment to do better and continue showing up for all runners."

OK, let's get to the best #content from a fairly loaded pre-NFL Draft weekend:

Dancing Dems, playoff hockey & Nelly takes us into a big week

A baseball-centric weekend of #content, but that's understandable given the time of year. The Masters is behind us. The NFL Draft is in front of us. We needed a weekend to regroup, and MLB stepped up to the plate and delivered.

A couple thoughts ...

  1. Speaking of the NFL Draft, looks like legendary draft night WAG Gia Duddy is ready for all Pittsburgh has to offer. She's the standard, boys and girls. Good luck living up to it.
  2. Wild little quote from Curt Schilling.
  3. Happy 4/20 to Ricky Williams! Greatest Dolphins player I've ever seen, which isn't saying much given they've won a grand total of one playoff game in 25 years.
  4. PK Subban's pants were jaw-dropping last night. I literally thought I was seeing things. Incredible.

Speaking of playoff hockey, let's rapid-fire this Monday class into a big Monday night! First up? How about the scene in Buffalo yesterday:

JILLIAN MICHAELS: OUR HOCKEY HEROES JUST GAVE AMERICA THE MIRACLE WE NEEDED MOST

I'm admittedly a fair-weather hockey fan, but I still put playoff hockey up against any other major sport. I think I'd go ...

  1. NHL playoffs (the whole thing)
  2. MLB Game 7
  3. NFL divisional weekend
  4. College football opening round

That last one is tough. I could easily move Masters Sunday in there. I'm still not sold on the college football playoff atmosphere outside the on-site games. But that's another story for another day.

Next? Let's check in with the libs on the way out. BIG weekend for that side:

Cannot believe OutKick didn't send Joe to Detroit for the nominating convention. Could you imagine the things he would've seen in those trenches? It would've been endless content.

What a miss. Won't happen again!

OK, that's it for today. Good start to the week. Well, "good" may be a strong word to use after the day we've had. It was a ... start ... to the week. Not sure the proper adjective even exists to describe today.

But, we made it. And for that, Nelly Korda takes us home.

See you Wednesday.
