Over the weekend I was back in my hometown of Anoka, Minnesota (the Halloween Capitol of the World) to attend the re-grand opening of my parents Chevrolet car dealership and sign copies of my new book Getting Real.

It's true what they say about "Minnesota-Nice". And boy did I learn that lesson and more from my parents growing up. They also taught me good Midwestern values -- to always work hard and to never ever give up.

Six years ago I witnessed one of the greatest lessons of perseverance i'd ever seen when my parents' car dealership was taken away from them by General Motors and the government. They fought tooth and nail to get it back. As my mom said afterwards ... "I never worked so hard to get back something I already owned."

When it comes right down to it - we all lead busy lives - sometimes too much in over-drive right? But going home to where I came from -- always reminds me what truly matters in life - and that's my family. so mom and dad -- thanks for everything.
