White House urges sitcom producer Chuck Lorre to seek 'psychiatric help' after targeting Trump, first lady

The 'Big Bang Theory' creator called Trump a 'Russian asset' and first lady an 'escort' at a charity gala

TV producer Chuck Lorre used a Hollywood charity gala last Saturday to deliver a profanity-laced speech targeting President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump, prompting a fiery response from the White House.

Speaking at the Project Angel Food Angel Awards in Los Angeles, the "Big Bang Theory" creator used his acceptance speech to insult the first family, call the president a "Russian asset" and joke about checking whether Trump had suffered a fatal heart attack. Regarding Melania Trump, he called the first lady "a surgically enhanced, cold-hearted Yugoslavian escort who clearly hates her husband."

The White House responded to Lorre's remarks in a statement to Fox News Digital.

"Chuck Lorre should immediately seek psychiatric help to treat his severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome that has completely rotted his peanut-sized brain," said White House spokesperson Davis Ingle.

Lorre was honored at the event after his foundation made what Project Angel Food has described as a "transformational" contribution to the charity. The charity provides medically tailored meals to people facing critical and life-threatening illnesses. During his acceptance speech, Lorre repeatedly turned to politics and told the crowd that his "need to cause laughter" compelled him to do so.

"I’d love to express my gratitude to all the people who’ve devoted their lives to making Project Angel Food an oasis for those in need. That would be my preference," Lorre said during his speech, first reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

"But because I’m a comedy writer, I have no choice but to explain how I wake up every morning, turn on CNN to see if the President of the United States had a heart attack while straining to take a dump," he added.

Lorre, also known for creating shows including "Two and a Half Men" and "Mom," then called on those in attendance to open their wallets to contribute to the nonprofit before comparing first lady Melania Trump to former first lady Michelle Obama.

"I’d love to encourage you to pull out your wallets and contribute to this amazing organization, but my need to cause laughter forces me to question how a country can embrace a smart, educated, warm, funny first lady like Michelle Obama and somehow be OK with a surgically enhanced, cold-hearted Yugoslavian escort who clearly hates her husband," Lorre told the crowd.

MELANIA TRUMP CALLS FOR ABC TO FIRE JIMMY KIMMEL OVER ‘HATEFUL AND VIOLENT RHETORIC'

Film critic and Hollywood in Toto founder and editor Christian Toto told Fox News Digital that Lorre's attack on the first lady highlights what he sees as a glaring double standard in Hollywood.

"Generally speaking, we don't attack first ladies. It's just sort of an unspoken rule," Toto said. "They weren't elected. They're just supporting their husbands, so by and large, even comedians won't go there. But when it comes to First Lady Melania Trump, they go there, they go there a lot."

TRUMP URGES ABC TO FIRE ‘SERIOUSLY UNFUNNY’ JIMMY KIMMEL, SAYS IT ‘BETTER BE SOON’

"Comparing her to an escort is obviously factually incorrect for the obvious, but also just cruel. For all the talk in Hollywood [about] trying to treat women better and #MeToo, and things like that, I thought that was rather inappropriate, to say the least," he said.

Toto added that he believed Hollywood's reaction would be different if a conservative producer targeted a Democratic figure. "There are double standards that exist in Hollywood. Targets you can hit; targets you can't hit. If Michelle Obama was the target of such a cruel attack, I think it would get a lot of attention. There might even be a call for him to apologize for his comments."

He also criticized celebrities for discussing political issues at charity or non-political events. "When you think about speaking at an event, it's almost like you're on a first date—you don't bring up abortion, you don't bring up gun control, you don't bring up all these sort of hot-button issues," Toto told Fox News Digital.

"It just seems odd that you'd go really hard political, but the celebrities do it for two reasons. One, they can't help themselves and two, no one's going to critique them, no one is going to fact-check them. So, they can say whatever they want. So, it's a very indulgent process, but it shows no sign of stopping," he added.

Lorre also criticized Democrats, calling on the Democratic National Committee to "run from the suicidal insanity of the far-left woke culture in the coming election," before taking aim at Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. over his views on vaccines.

DAVID MARCUS: TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME ISN'T MENTAL ILLNESS, IT'S MASS HYSTERIA

Lorre ended the speech by again targeting Trump, giving his own version of the Serenity Prayer: "God, grant me the serenity to no longer give a sh-- about all the stupid people in this country, the courage to say Donald Trump is a Russian asset who traded teenagers with Jeffrey Epstein, and the wisdom to end on a cheap laugh."
