Rep. Haley Stevens' chief of staff says he and other staffers have resigned

Rep. Haley Stevens' chief of staff Justin German said in a Sunday statement that he and other members of the lawmaker's team had resigned.

He said they were "heartbroken" by the congresswoman's endorsement of Michigan Republican U.S. Senate candidate Mike Rogers.

"As Haley Stevens' Chief of Staff for eight years, I speak on behalf of our team in wholeheartedly supporting Abdul El-Sayed for Senate," German said in part of the statement that is circulating online. "We are shocked and heartbroken by Congresswoman Stevens' decision to support Mike Rogers."

"As of this morning, many members of our team have resigned, including myself," he noted.

Haley's office did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's comment request on Monday.

Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., said the staffers who resigned were correct to do so.

"Rep. Haley Stevens’ staff is right to resign in disgust. They understand that the election in Michigan is far more important than Haley’s fragile ego and that all of us must stand together to elect Abdul, defeat Rogers and end the Republican rubber-stamp control of the Senate," Sanders said in a post on X.

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., offered to use her office to help Stevens continue her congressional work.

"My office will happily assist @RepHaleyStevens with anything she needs, including constituent services, during her remaining time in the 119th Congress. She has done more for this country than the majority of my colleagues on both sides of the aisle by taking a stand and putting country over party. Let this be an example to all," Luna said in a post on X.

Michigan Dem claims Stevens shot down Rogers endorsement rumor hours before turning on El-Sayed

The decision by Rep. Haley Stevens, D-Mich., to endorse Republican Senate nominee Mike Rogers was apparently a sudden change of heart, and tied to the Abdul El-Sayed campaign's stay-away order this weekend.

Rep. Debbie Dingell, D-Mich., said Stevens told her Saturday night that reports of an impending Rogers endorsement were not accurate.

"It's very hard," Dingell told local FOX 2 on Sunday night. "Haley Stevens told me at midnight last night this was all a rumor and was not true."

Five hours later, Stevens was standing shoulder to shoulder with Rogers at a Detroit church service."

She texted me at 7:45, watching you on MS NOW, heart, heart," Dingell continued. "And by the way, I talked to her. Look, I'm just upset. I'm very concerned. It's sad, but I don't want to be distracted anymore."

Alaska's other Dan Sullivan reportedly not seen in hometown in weeks

In Petersburg, Alaska, no one has seen U.S. Senate candidate Dan J. Sullivan, Jr. in weeks, The Associated Press reported.

His residence was standing dark a day after the FBI visited friends who contributed to the man's campaign, according to the outlet.

The AP reported that several donors it interviewed noted that they had not talked to Sullivan for quite awhile.

Sullivan is running in the state's ranked-choice U.S. Senate contest which also features incumbent Republican Sen. Dan S. Sullivan, the candidate backed by President Donald Trump.

Rep Summer Lee accuses Rep Haley Stevens of backing 'anti-Black, anti-Muslim MAGA Republican'

Rep. Summer Lee, D-Pa., slammed Rep. Haley Stevens, D-Mich., and former Rep. Mike Rogers, the Republican U.S. Senate candidate in Michigan, after Stevens endorsed Rogers on Sunday.

"Haley Stevens has no problem using the Black community when it’s convenient for her, but as soon as it wasn’t, she defected to an anti-Black, anti-Muslim MAGA Republican. We are spiraling towards authoritarianism and she’d rather serve us up to a fascist regime than vote for the Democratic nominee. Don't fall for fearmongering or division. Vote Abdul. Defeat fascism," Lee wrote in a post on X.

The Rogers campaign did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's comment request on Monday.

The GOP reveals a fresh $100B talking point as the battle for Congress looms

EXCLUSIVE: With both parties vying to convince voters they have the better answer on the economy, Small Business Administrator Kelly Loeffler is pointing to $100 billion in support for local employers as proof that Trump’s policies are working.

"We just recorded our second consecutive year of getting $100 billion to Main Street businesses," Loeffler told Fox News Digital, crediting Trump’s tax cuts, deregulation and trade policies.

The economic debate could help determine which party controls Congress, as both parties try to persuade voters their policies will improve household finances and business prospects.

Collins accuses Schumer of pushing attack ads filled with 'outright lies' in tight Maine race

Sen. Susan Collins on Sunday blasted Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and the Democratic Party over what she described as a wave of false attack ads targeting her and other Republican candidates, saying she has never seen a campaign with "so many outright lies."

She made the remarks during an interview with Fox News on Sunday, just two days before Election Day in Maine, where she is seeking reelection in a closely watched race against Democratic rival Troy Jackson. According to the latest Fox News poll, the two candidates are tied at 49%.

Collins accused Democrats of following "Chuck Schumer's playbook," pointing to attack ads she said were nearly identical to those targeting other Republican lawmakers.

"One of the outrageous, completely false ads against me had to do with Jeffrey Epstein. And it turns out, in talking to two of my colleagues who are in tough races, that they had virtually identical ads run against them. So this is part of Chuck Schumer's playbook," she said.

"There are a lot of differences between my opponent and me, but I've never seen a campaign with so many outright lies. It's very frustrating," she added.

Mamdani says Stevens 'betrayed' the working class with Rogers endorsement

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani accused Rep. Haley Stevens of betraying the working class by endorsing former Rep. Mike Rogers, the Republican candidate in Michigan's U.S. Senate contest.

"Working class people’s lives are on the ballot on Tuesday—their healthcare, their rent, their bills. Haley Stevens just betrayed them by endorsing the very Republican she said she wanted to run against," Mamdani asserted in a post on X.

Haley lost the Michigan Democratic U.S. Senate primary to Abdul El-Sayed in early August.

Alaska election lawsuit remains unresolved on eve of Election Day

Alaska officials are asking a federal judge to dismiss the Justice Department’s lawsuit seeking to delay certification of the state’s Senate election if Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan loses to Democrat Mary Peltola.

The case centers on a second candidate named Daniel J. Sullivan Jr. appearing on the ranked-choice ballot. The Trump administration argues the candidate could confuse voters and divert support from the incumbent.

Alaska’s Republican-led state government called the lawsuit “meritless” and said it would be impossible to separate ballots cast for the second Sullivan without violating voter privacy.

Peltola has denied involvement in recruiting the candidate. The race could help determine control of the Senate.

Iran tensions add uncertainty as midterm voters head to the polls

The Middle East is bracing for a possible return to all-out war as diplomatic efforts involving Iran continue just before the U.S. midterm elections.

President Donald Trump said he had a “very good” call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about Iran but offered no details.

Iranian officials said their delegation had left Qatar while messages with the United States continued through mediators. Tehran is awaiting a U.S. response to a proposal involving the Strait of Hormuz.

The conflict has already become a major campaign issue because of its effect on fuel prices and inflation. Any renewed strikes or escalation after Tuesday’s election could reshape the political environment as the new Congress prepares to take office.

Haley Stevens endorses Republican Mike Rogers in stunning Michigan Senate reversal

Rep. Haley Stevens, a Democrat who narrowly lost Michigan’s Senate primary to Abdul El-Sayed, endorsed Republican Mike Rogers on Sunday—less than 48 hours before Election Day.

Stevens had previously said she supported El-Sayed, but backed Rogers after being uninvited from a planned joint campaign appearance with her former primary rival.

“Our Democratic nominee for Senate said I was no longer welcome on his campaign and that I should stay away,” Stevens said in a video announcing her endorsement. “And he’s right. And that’s why I am endorsing Mike Rogers for the United States Senate today.”

The reversal stunned Michigan Democrats and prompted Stevens’ longtime chief of staff to resign. Democratic leaders, including Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, condemned the endorsement.

El-Sayed dismissed the development and said he was focused on issues including the high cost of living.

The race is among the most consequential Senate contests in the country, with Democrats needing to hold Michigan as they seek to win a majority.
