For his Fall/Winter 2013 Collection, Mexican-born designer Rolando Santana was inspired by the three-dimensional abstract creations of artist John Chamberlain.
"I was deeply inspired by John Chamberlin because of his use of raw materials turned into sculptures which display such texture and strength. By interpreting his work, we hope that the line is well received and that we have an amazing retail season,” Santana said.
On the runway, the inspiration became apparent through his creative use of materials and ability to mold them to flatter feminine curves. Known for his feminine dresses and simple silhouettes, Santana added edge this season with fun juxtapositions in fabrication.
On the runway, there were lace pieces finished with an edgy leather illusion and wools are interlaced with metallic thread and cellophane. The look was lady-like with an edgy twist. Stand-outs include the luxe new accessories that debuted on the runway the luxurious lambskin “Lagunilla” clutch, short leather gloves, and classic thin-heeled pumps work with every look.
Santana designs for the powerful and busy but still put woman together. A woman who knows what she wants.
“Our clients are timeless and chic and we always design pieces with them in mind,” he said.
