New York City's Ash Wednesday Express Line
NYC Ash Wednesday Express Line
St. Patricks Catherdral serves 50,000 people on the holy day - thanks to the express line.
You can call it an Express Line to Jesus.
On Ash Wednesday thousands of busy Catholics sacrifice their lunch breaks
and mass for a quick chance to get their holy ashes at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in the heart of New York City.
Over , and over, and over again 50,000 foreheads are crisscrossed from 7 am till 7pm at night. That’s 30 pounds of ashes.
For busy New Yorkers the express line is a blessing.
But others just don’t like it. They say Mass is a must… the express line to ashes undermines the importance of the holy day.
