California couple Nicholas and Rafaela Ordaz have reason to kick up their heels and rejoice today, as the two celebrate 82 years of wedded bliss.
This past weekend, the Tracy, California couple celebrated surrounded by generations of their family – including grandchildren, great- grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
The two were married in 1934, at the start of the Great Depression. Nicholas was just 20 years old.
The secret to their long-lived romance? The two say it’s based on three essentials: respect, affection and not sweating the small stuff.
According to Guinness World Records, the couple that has been married the longest is Herbert and Zelmyra Fisher, who were for 86 years and 290 days as of February 27, 2011, when Mr. Fisher died.
