TUCSON, Ariz. – The Humane Society of Southern Arizona says it's a miracle that a 1-year-old shepherd mix named Java is still alive and that they're desperate to find a home for her.
Last year, a litter of newborn puppies and their mother were dropped off at the Tucson shelter. Java was one of them.
KVOA in Tucson reports that Dr. Jen Wilcox says that Java's eye had to be removed because of a major infection.
Although it was a straight-forward procedure, Java stopped breathing and her heart stopped as she woke up from anesthesia.
Doctors revived her after 20 minutes, and Java survived the ordeal without brain damage.
They're now calling the medium-sized, one-eyed white dog a miracle.
Wilcox says that Java would fit well with a patient and active family.
