Employees at the John Cochran VA Medical Center in St. Louis have been ordered to clean up before the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals inspects the building Thursday, KTVI-TV reported.
The commission gives accreditation to American hospitals.
The so-called surprise inspection really isn’t that much of a surprise, which could defeat the purpose of the inspection.
Cochran’s problems have been numerous in the past year. Recently an operating room closed because of unsterilized instruments, and last year up to 1,800 veterans were exposed to hepatitis or HIV at the Cochran dental clinic.
