This is supposed to be one of the most joyous times of the year, but it can also be one of the most hectic.

Psychologists say that desire to find the perfect gift or throw the perfect party can cause a lot of avoidable stress.

A good way to alleviate those seasonal stress episodes is to have a plan of attack.

Make lists that detail exactly how much time and money you want to spend on gifts and projects such as holiday parties. Overspending and stressing about money can compound the anxiety you already feel about not having enough of it to get everything done.

Also, therapists say we need to stop aiming for perfection and accept that the gifts are "good enough" and the party is "good enough." That will leave more time and energy to enjoy the special moments of the season.
