A 17-year-old girl became sick and died in front of about 90 of her fellow students at a Long Island high school on Monday night, a report said.

The student, a rising junior at Sachem North High School, died at around 9:15 p.m. after suffering a “medical incident” during band practice, according to NBC New York.

“It is with deep sorrow that the district has learned that an incoming senior at Sachem North High School tragically passed away last night,” Kenneth Graham, the district superintendent, said in a statement.

“We are currently not aware of the cause of death. Our thoughts and prayers are with the individual’s family and friends during this difficult time.”

The tragedy occurred while the student was at band practice at nearby Sachem East High School — the same school where another tragedy took place during football practice last summer.

In August of 2017, 16-year-old Joshua Mileto died during preseason drills after a 400-pound log he and four players were carrying struck him on the head.
