Actress pushes vaccinations
With her acting career in full swing, actress Judith Light can’t afford to get the flu. She got vaccinated, and now, she’s helping spread the word about preventing the flu
Between her one-woman, off-Broadway show, “All The Ways To Say I Love You,” and her Emmy-nominated role on “Transparent,” actress Judith Light has no time to get sick. That’s why she got her flu shot early in the season and is now urging others to do the same.
The star of hit shows, “Who’s the Boss?” and “Ugly Betty,” teamed up with the National Council on Aging and Sanofi Pasteur to raise awareness about this potentially deadly illness and the importance of getting vaccinated.
Light, 67, decided to take up the cause after learning that people over the age of 65 account for almost all flu-related deaths. She talked to FoxNews.com about how important it is for all people, especially older adults, to get vaccinated— and to do it soon, especially since flu season has already started.
“It takes two weeks for the vaccine to start working in the body and the CDC is recommending that people get vaccinated now, instead of waiting any longer,” she said.
For those who are 65 and older and those with weakened immune systems, there is a higher-dose vaccine available to help protect them during the season.
