A 35-year-old woman from Brazil was left in agonizing pain for three years after surgeons left a pair of scissors in her abdomen, the Metro reported.
Veronika Cruz was undergoing a routine operation to remove her ovaries in Sao Paulo, Brazil, when surgeons made the mistake of leaving behind a pair of eight-inch scissors.
Cruz repeatedly complained of pain, but doctors dismissed her complaints until she finally collapsed. An X-ray later revealed what was really wrong.
“There was damage to her intestine and her other ovary, which had to be removed,” a spokesman for the Sao Paulo medical council said. “We are investigating.”
