Oh, what a night!

Saturday night was a big night for women's cancer research. The 4th Annual Variety Power of Comedy honored Jimmy Kimmel.

Because of Jimmy and the line up of talented comedians he booked, our venue was sold out. There is no limit to this man's generosity – from purchasing tables at the event, to buying the unsold general admission tickets to allow his staff to bring their families, to raising his hand during the pledge plea for dollars for cancer research.  We are deeply grateful to Jimmy and to Variety magazine for making this event a resounding success.

When I spoke to the crowd Saturday night, I explained that the coffers in D.C. have dried up and that philanthropy is the route we need to take to fund the research that will make a difference.  I hope we can get that word to the public. With the mapping of the human genome, research can – and is – moving faster than ever before. The more funding we can provide the faster we will see breakthroughs.

So, if you know individuals or corporations who have the money to support research, contact them and remind them of the importance of giving.  Giving money now – this year – to women's cancer research.
