Businesses and restaurants are honoring veterans on Tuesday, Nov. 11 with specials and freebies for active duty and retired military personnel. From big chain restaurants to coffee and donut shops, here are some food establishments that will giving something a little extra special this Veteran's Day.

1. Hooters

Hooters is inviting active duty and retired military personnel to eat for free on Veterans Day. They are also encouraging patrons to participate in their 2015 Operation Calendar drop program; guests can purchase and personalize a Hooters calendar with a message of appreciation to the troops, then the calendars will be delivered to U.S. troops overseas.

2. Applebee’s

If you're a military vet, you can dig into a free meal that includes seven entrées to choose from, beverage and gratuity not included.

3. Bob Evans

Get your free, all-you-can eat hot cakes for active duty military and veterans with ID or proof of service.

4. California Pizza Kitchen

California Pizza Kitchen is letting vets choose a pizza, full size salad, or pasta from the special Veteran’s Day Menu, for dine-in customers only.

5. Chili’s

Veterans get their choice of one of 7 meals during dinner, or any lunch combo during lunch. Offer only at participating Chili’s in the U.S. Beverages and gratuity not included.

Build Your Own Grand Slam for free from 5am – noon for all active, inactive and retired military personnel. Participating locations only, so make sure to call ahead.

7. Krispy Kreme

Get a free doughnut and small coffee at participating stores for active duty, retirees and veterans. Call ahead to make sure your location is participating.

8. Outback Steakhouse

Vets can get a free Bloomin’ Onion and a non-alcoholic beverage.  They also receive 15 percent off the purchase of their meal from November 12 through December 31.

9. Red Lobster

Vets can get a free appetizer from a select list from November 10 to November 13.

10. Starbucks

Free tall brewed coffee for active duty, veterans and their spouses, at participating stores only.

11. Bar Louie

Special: From open to close on November 10th, 2014 to November 11th, 2014, every location will offer veterans and military personnel a free meal up to $12 value when they show valid ID or other proof of service.
