The World's Top 50 Restaurants 2013

Oh no! The prestigious U.K.'s Restaurant magazine, which does its yearly list of The World’s Top 50 Restaurants was apparently undermined by some overzealous reporters who leaked the list ahead of time.

Spanish newspaper El Pais had the list up before the official announcement that was live streamed from the U.K. The event is sponsored by San Pellegrino and Acqua Panna.

Once you get over the shock, it might be worth it to mention that El Celler de Can Roca in Girona, Spain has taken the top spot from  Noma in Copenhagen, Denmark, which held the crown for three years.  Closer to home, New York City's Eleven Madison Park is now the top-ranked restaurant in the U.S. ranked at 5.  New York's Per Se got bumped to 11 and Alinea's in Chicago snagged number 15.

The ranking is based on ratings from an academy of over 900 international leaders in the restaurant industry made up of food critics, chefs, restaurateurs and highly regarded ‘foodies’.
