A speeding semitrailer crashed into a Mexican restaurant in a small Utah city, effectively destroying the establishment and injuring three people.

Fox 13 reported Los Jilbertos restaurant was open for business at the time of the crash, around 6:30 a.m. Thursday, with its owners inside. The eastbound tractor trailer was speeding as it passed through Wellington and it veered off the roadway.

When police arrived, the male owner of the restaurant was standing outside and said his wife was trapped inside the building, as per the Utah Highway Patrol (UHP).

State troopers rescued the woman, who suffered what were described as minor injuries. The restaurant owner and the truck driver were also taken to a hospital with minor injuries, said Highway Patrol Sgt. Nicholas Street.

According to the UHP, the crash knocked out electrical and gas service through parts of Wellington, a community of about 1,600 residents. The power outage closed the town’s elementary school.

“We are asking residents to not come to the scene as this is an active accident investigation,” police wrote on Facebook.

GoFundMe has been established for the owners, who relied on Los Jilbertos as their sole source of income, Fox 13 reports. As of Thursday morning, $4,284 had been raised of a $25,000 goal.

“Los Jilbertos was more than just a Mexican Restaurant. This place created so many lasting friendships and a sense of community. I have watched our community come together time and time again to help out a fellow member of our community. I hope to see that again,” the GoFundMe page creator, Brittnie Arroyo, wrote online. “Los Jilbertos is a tremendous loss to our community and we HOPE to see them rebuild.”

Arroyo was able to share a reported updates regarding the health and condition of the owners of the restaurant, too.

“The family is home from the hospital and doing good. They would like to express their gratitude to all of those who have reached out, shared, donated, or had kind words to say. It is so appreciated,” she wrote on the crowdfunding page. “As of right now they are just trying to process everything.”

Wellington is roughly 125 mile southeast of Salt Lake City.
