Given the traditional New Year’s Eve festivities, Thursday was a slower day for Star Wars: The Force Awakens at the international box office, ringing in 2016 with an added $15.1M from offshore territories. That was a roughly 59% drop from Wednesday, but business will pick up again today overseas where the cume is $679.2M. That should set the Disney sci-fi epic’s trajectory for the $700M mark at some point today. Domestically, SWTFA dropped about 19% from Wednesday-Thursday. The global cume is $1,331.2M.

The Force Awakens is currently the No. 8 film of all time at the worldwide box office having overtaken Frozen with Wednesday’s grosses. Today, it will pass Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2‘s $1,341.5M and advance to the No. 7 slot.

Other standings reported yesterday remain. SWTFA is the No. 5 movie of 2015 internationally. Immediately ahead of it is Minions with $821M. Globally, it is the No. 4 movie of the year — directly behind Avengers: Age Of Ultron‘s $1.4B.

The Top 5 foreign markets remain in order: the UK ($129.4M), Germany ($71.4M), France ($60.6M), Australia ($45.5M), and Japan ($42.9M).
